Getting Started with Link Planner

Link Planner is a free tool inside Uprankly. It compares your backlink profile against up to five competitors and shows you which sites link to them but not to you. Those sites are your gap domains — and they're your best starting point for link building.

What it does

Enter your domain, pick your competitors, and Link Planner runs the comparison. Within a few minutes you get a report with:

• Gap domains — sites linking to your competitors but not you
• Keyword gaps — keywords where competitors outrank you
• DR distribution — how your backlink authority compares
• Traffic gap — organic traffic you're missing out on
• Prospect sites — outreach-ready sites matched to your niche

How to open it

1. Log in to Uprankly.
2. Click Link Planner in the top nav.
3. You'll land on the Competitor Gap Analysis dashboard.

First time here? The dashboard will be empty — just follow the prompt to run your first analysis.

Free vs paid

Link Planner has a free tier:

• Free — 3 analyses per month, resets on the 1st.
• Paid — higher or unlimited analyses depending on your plan.

Your current usage shows at the top of the dashboard. Once you've used your free analyses, the "New Link Plan" button goes grey until the month resets. Upgrade to Link Builder if you need more.

Running your first analysis

Click New Link Plan. A 3-step wizard opens:

1. Your domain — type your domain. No https:// needed.
2. Competitors — Link Planner suggests competitors automatically. Pick up to 5.
3. Confirm and start — review your picks, choose intersection mode, and hit Start Analysis.

Results usually come back in 1–3 minutes. The dashboard shows the status live: Pending → Analyzing → Enriching → Scoring → Completed.
