How to Use Competitor Opportunities

Competitor Opportunities shows you gap domains across all your projects in one place. Use it to find link targets, filter them down, and move the best ones into your outreach pipeline.

Where to find it

Go to Link Builder > Competitor Opportunities in the sidebar.

How the workflow is structured

The page walks you through five steps, shown at the top:

  1. Select Projects — choose which projects to pull from. All projects are selected by default.
  2. Filter & Sort — narrow the list to what's worth your time.
  3. Review Results — scan the gap domains.
  4. Verify Contacts — see which domains have contact info ready.
  5. Add to Outreach — move your picks into a prospect list.

Work through the steps in order, or jump straight to filtering if you already know what you're after.

Filtering your results

Click the filter panel to see these options:

  • Search Domain — type a domain name (e.g., "backlinko" or "yoast")
  • Domain Rating (DR) — filter by authority: All, 30+, 50+, 70+, 90+
  • Search Traffic — filter by monthly traffic: All, 100+, 500+, 1,000+, 5,000+
  • Competitor Overlaps — how many of your competitors link to this domain: All, 1+, 2+, 3+, 5+
  • Max Spam Indicator — exclude spammy domains
  • Prospecting Status — filter by where a domain sits in your workflow: New, Pitched, Acquired, and so on

The filter panel shows how many filters are active. Hit Clear Search Parameters to reset everything.

Reading the results table

Each row is a gap domain. Here's what each column shows:

  • Domain — the target site
  • DR — domain rating
  • Traffic — estimated monthly SEO traffic
  • Overlap — how many of your competitors have a link from this domain. Click the number to see which ones.
  • Score — priority tier: High (red), Medium (amber), or Low
  • Contact — "Yes" means contact data is available
  • Status — where this domain sits in your outreach workflow

The summary row at the top gives you a quick count: total gaps found, new ones, those with contact data, and how many are high priority.

Adding domains to outreach

Check the box next to any domain you want to act on. You can select multiple at once. Then open the Add to dropdown and pick a prospect list. Those domains land in the list immediately, ready for your next campaign.
